International Association of Atheists Launch A Massive Success

A little over a week ago, we let you in on the big news: Bridget Gaudette and Courtney Heard were starting a new secular nonprofit to spread reason and humanism throughout the world.

In just a week, you helped us get this ship off the ground. Your generosity and your passion for the causes have allowed us to, in just a few days, incorporate this new representative body for atheists. You've enabled us to get our nonprofit status well underway.

In just one week, you have given us over $5000 and 105 proud members of this global humanist organization.

In this time, we have also brought Gail Miller and Rosi Guastella on board with us. They don't just bring an immense amount of expertise, know-how, and experience; they also bring relentless passion and commitment to our initiatives.

We've been able, as well, to put together an advisory board full of some of the most recognizable and hard-working names in the atheist activist community. Nathan Phelps, who was raised by the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church and who defied the odds by doubting the dogma they fed him, has come aboard to guide us with experience and knowledge. Deana Naraparaju, an archaeologist and one of the activists who helped free Mubarak Bala from the psychiatric ward he was committed to when he told his family he was an atheist, is also among our valued advisors. Mubarak Bala, who has since used his sharp mind and huge heart to become a prolific humanist activist in Nigeria, will be on our advisory board as well. We are pleased to welcome Alix Jules of the Foundation Beyond Belief and innumerable other accomplishments to the board of advisors. Obaid Omer, who has found himself in many warzones with the Canadian armed forces, brings his deep commitment to human rights to our advisory board. We are also excited to bring aboard Mr. Deity himself, Brian Keith Dalton.

It is sad to say we already have a case that we are working on - we hadn't even been at this two days before someone came to us desperate for help. An atheist in danger in a country that is extremely and oppressively religious, he has several small children and we are already setting up a meeting with a Canadian member of parliament to discuss our options.

In the time since we made our first announcement, 105 of you became members of our organization. 105 of you made the choice to put evidence-based education, secular rights and humanist values first. 105 of you have voted with your donations and your message is clear: you want us to get things done in your name and that's just what we're going to do.

This organization isn't about Bridget Gaudette. It's not about Courtney Heard. It's not about Rosi Guastella or Gail Miller. This organization is about you, by you and for you. What we have been able to accomplish in just one short week is all thanks to you.

Now, just think about what we can do in a month. Think about what the power of us can do in a year.

If you feel like this is something you want to be a part of, please consider becoming a member and further enabling us to educate, protect, and assist atheists internationally. Click here to choose your membership level.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be making more announcements about campaigns, projects and initiatives. We want you to be part of these exciting new things, so stick around and make sure you're following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for enabling us to make real and lasting change.
